Oropesa del Mar

Oropesa del Mar is one in a chain of summer resort areas running along the coast between Valencia and Barcelona. These towns are frequented by people from Valencia, Madrid and other parts of Spain as well as greater Europe. The Mediterranean spans the horizon to the east and mountains form a buttress on the west. Between lie thousands of acres of almond, orange and olive orchards. Much of the shoreline is crowded with towering hotels and condominiums, all to house the teaming masses during the summer months.

Jason's home "Tajamar" occupies a perch high on a steep hillside facing the sea. Patios extend off the house on all four levels providing extraordinary views day and night.

A view of some of the hotels along the beautiful shoreline with the mountains behind.                                                   The ubiquitous bullring, present in every town.

And finally, a shot of me playing one of many chess matches Jay, Javier and I played. The handcarved set is extraordinary. And of course, as I am pointing out, the local brew "Mahou" is present and being consumed enthusiastically!
