Toledo

Toledo was abandoned as the country's capital for Madrid. It fell into depression and the palace, which so dominates any view of the area, fell into disuse. During the Spanish revolution the palace was nearly completely destroyed. It has been restored and now serves as a museum

This small mosque, Ermita del Cristo de la Luz, the city's only remaining Muslim building, dates from around ACE 1000. It has been modified over the years and yet retains the arches and other moorish architectural details
